I've been astonished lately at the complete lack of understanding of proper nutrition in this country. I'm not talking about understanding nutrition on the level of a Nutritionist here. I'm talking about understanding that the way our country eats is DIRECTLY related to our obeisety epedimic and our health care crisis. What with all of this talk about national health care reform and it being on the forefront of everyones minds, I hear very little discussions about national nutrition reform. The fact of the matter is no one wants to talk about it because it directly involves THEM taking action. Not some beurocrat sitting pretty up in Washington. NO! It would involve the people of this country changing the way they approach food. When you start talking about people and their food you strike at the core of their comfort levels. WAKE UP! When the AVERAGE SIZE of an American woman as 12-16, WE HAVE A PROBLEM! Why has this become acceptable? Yet in the same breath we will bitch about the cost of health care?! Explain to me how this makes ANY sense!?
People, WAKE UP! Eating pizza and hamburgers is NOT proper nutrition! We wonder why other countries are passing us by in the education ranks!? It all comes back to proper nutrition. If we don't feed our bodies properly, we don't feed our minds properly. We are the fattest country in the world and our education ranking is dropping significantly among developed countries. See a trend here?! Sure, we can blame it all on a lack of funding and I'm not saying that doesn't have anything to do with it, but eating right from a young age helps to feed the mind.
Enough of my ranting.
