Shark RSR2 v. RSi Helmet Comparison

I've owned my red Shark Fujiwara RSR2 helmet for about 5 years now.  From the moment that I put the helmet on my head, I knew I had found the helmet that I would be sticking with for quite some time.  However, as many of you may have picked up on in that first sentence, I've had that helmet for 5 years.  That means it's time to look for a replacement.   Even if you've never been down in the helmet, or even if you've never dropped it, the age of the helmet alone means degradation of materials.  If it's my head in there, I'm not risking it!

Rev'It Racing Socks

Friday, 23 July 2010 19:01 Jan

Who would have thought that something as simple as socks would make such a difference?  I'm here to tell you they do.  Quite simply, they do. Read on to find out more.

Riding on the track as much as I do, I began to need something more than just boot socks.  I was wearing boot socks like you would wear with a pair of cowboy boots.  (before you have to ask: yes, I'm from Texas and yes, I have cowboy boots Laughing)  Boot socks would fall down around my ankles and wouldn't wick away the sweat.  In general they were just a cotton material and were entirely too hot.  They didn't work well as an athletic type sock, which is really what I needed while riding on the track.  Moving around as much as you do while riding a sport bike on the track, you find that having a pair of socks that are supportive, moisture wicking, cooling, and that don't bunch up on you is a vital asset.

I started thinking I would just pick up a pair of the taller socks I had seen at MotoLiberty (which just happens to be local to me here in Dallas, how lucky am I!?).  Once I arrived there, I started looking over these Rev'It socks to see why on earth they were $36.99 a pair as compared to the others at around $9.99 to $11.99 a pair.  It didn't take long for me to realize that there was some major though that went into the Rev'It socks.

Barber Trip

Tuesday, 11 May 2010 02:27 Jan

What can I say?  The trip to Barber was simply awesome!  All total, 7 of us came from Dallas with 8 bikes.

  • Aprilia RSV4
  • Aprilia RS 125
  • 3 Triumph 675s
  • Ducati 749R
  • Ducati 900SS
  • Kawasaki ZX-10R

We arrived Wednesday, with the track days starting on Friday and going through Saturday.  This gave us plenty of time to relax and make any last changes and adjustments to the bikes as necessary.  This was a great thing too since one of our group didn't know ahead of time that we needed to drain any anti-freeze and replace it with a non-ethyl glycol based coolant as well as RTV silicone both the oil fill and drain plugs.  We made these changes, picked up some supplies from Wal-Mart, and just relaxed and looked forward to the next few days on track!

I'm sitting here, listening to the lovely sounds of all that goes on in the hall in the mornings in a hotel. It reminds me of being back in a dorm room in college. No wonder either, I've been all amped up like a college kid waiting to go to the party of the month on a Saturday night.

This vacation has been long over due. Nearly 2 years since our last one. It was in Colorado, on the bikes as well, go figure.

Hoping Monte decides he wants to get up soon. My belly is telling me it's hungry!
